Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 1:30 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for Mrs. Nellie Wern Derouen Orgeron, 95, a native of Homeplace and a resident of Franklin, who passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 2:58 p.m., at her home. Burial will follow in St. Helen’s Cemetery in Florence. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services.
Survivors include six children, Julia D. Picard of Jeanerette; Wesley Derouen and his wife, Evelyn, of Jeanerette; Noemie “Lee” D. Brown of Franklin, Judy P. Clement of Hackberry; Alice P. Bourque and her husband, Ronald, of Franklin; and Donald Derouen and his companion, Jackie Benge, of Franklin; 29 grandchildren; 69 great grandchildren; and numerous great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rivers Derouen; her second husband, Arthur Orgeron; her parents, Danercier Wern and Julia Theriot Borel Wern; one daughter, Mary D. Ellis; one grandson, Christopher Mayon; her nine siblings, Forrest Borel, Justa Perez, Donald Wern Sr., Russell Warren, Helen Buteaux, Laura St. Pierre, Ernest Borel Sr., Sidney Borel Sr. and Wilfred Borel Sr.; and her godparents, Herbert Ibert and Ruth Belanger.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
