New Orleans auction is Feb. 23 and 24

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Auction Galleries has opened exhibition of its February auction. With nearly 1,400 lots slated for auction, including fine paintings, antiques, decorative art and more, the auction will take place over a period of two days; Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

The auction will feature “The Southern Experience,” a celebration of American Southern regional artists, including works by:

—Painters: George Rodrigue, Marie Madeleine, Seebold Molinary, Knute Heldner and Ella Miriam Wood.

—Outsider artists: Mose Tolliver and William Hemmerling.

—Contemporary artists: Mark Bercier and Lousie Guidry.

Several works by famous Cajun artist George Rodrigue will be up for auction. The proceeds of Rodrigue’s painting “My Yellow Oak” will go to benefit the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts.

Guests are welcome to view the exhibition lots at the Gallery this week between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, an evening preview party is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

New Orleans Auction Galleries is located at 510 Julia St. in the heart of the Warehouse and Arts District.
