Fire Protection District 11 took delivery of $235,000 in new equipment Tuesday that includes 32 full sets of self-contained breathing apparatus and a mobile cascade trailer that can be used across the parish to refill pressurized air tanks at fire scenes. The SCBAs consist of air tanks and pressure regulators mounted to carrying frames and face masks equipped with communication and alert systems. The SCBAs valued at $185,000 were purchased with a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant and FD 11 tax dollars footed the bill for the $50,000 mobile cascade unit. FD 11 personnel check out the inside of the cascade unit.
