No injuries in Monday house fire

There were no injuries in a structure fire in Charenton Monday morning.

Chitimacha Fire Protection Chief Rick Cook said the department responded at 11:11 a.m. to a fire call at 214 Sanaren St.

Heavy fire damage was contained and extinguished in a bedroom area. Cook said there was smoke damage throughout the residence.

The fire was under control by 11:39 a.m. Baldwin Fire Department gave assistance along with Chitimacha Police, the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office, Acadian Ambulance and Cleco.

Cook said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
