OPELOUSAS – Police said a member of the Zydeco music scene has died in a fire in his home. Police say 49-year-old Shelton Broussard died Tuesday night when a fire broke out in his mobile home.

Broussard was guitarist and founding member of the legendary band, Zydeco Force, whose hit songs included "Hey Madeline" and "B-Flat."

Fire Chief Lee Cahanin said the call about the fatal fire came in at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday and the first units responding found the mobile home already fully engulfed in flames.

Cahanin said the body, which could not immediately be identified because of the extent of the fire damage, was found inside the home once the blaze was brought under control.

The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire
