Family, friends and former students of the late Coach Oneal Chube Jr. gathered Saturday for the renaming of Fourth Street in Franklin in his honor. Chube taught and coached at Franklin schools for 20 years at African-American schools and six more at the integrated Franklin Senior High encouraging all to strive for success. His children attending the function included son, Frank Chube, and daughters, Janice Moore, Renee Washington and Majella Hamilton. Of his coach and mentor, NFL veteran Wallace Francis said, “Our coach taught us how to become winners in life… His success can also be measured by the depths of defeat from which he lifted many boys who have become men and are having a positive impact on others in careers across the country.”
