Ongoing drug sweep nets 23 on first day

Tuesday’s rain showers brought more than a cool front. They brought November Rain, a series of 23 arrests stemming from a long-term undercover narcotics operation in the Morgan City area.

Designed to stem the tide of narcotics flowing into area neighborhoods, November Rain arrests began in Morgan City and surrounding areas before daybreak and ended after sunset.

After a six-month investigation completed with the assistance of the Vermilion and Assumption parish sheriff’s offices and the Patterson Police Department, arrests were made with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, United States Marshal’s Service, Louisiana State Probation and Parole, and Patterson, Berwick and Franklin police departments, MCPD Chief Marc Folse said.

Arrested Wednesday were:

—Danny Ray Robinson Jr., 27, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, charged on a warrant for distribution of marijuana. Bond is set at $100,000.

—Timothy Johnson, 33, North Third Street, Morgan City; warrant, four counts of distribution of crack cocaine; $400,000 bond.

—Tracy Slaton Jr., 20, General Hodges Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of marijuana; additional charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. At the time of arrest, Slaton was found in possession of drugs and paraphernalia and additionally charged. Bond is $100,000 on the warrant. No bond is set on the additional charges.

—Benjamin John Justillian, 19, Duke Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of marijuana; additional charge of possession of marijuana by St. Mary Sheriff’s Department when he was arrested. Bond is $100,000 on the warrant; released on summons by the sheriff’s department.

—Jessi Davis, 19, Duke Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

—Lamarcus Jermaine Francois, 17, Louisiana Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of marijuana; $100,000 bond.

—Eliza Paige Williams, 21, Louisiana Street, Morgan City; warrant, two counts of distribution of crack cocaine; $200,000 bond.

—Angilee Williams, 47, Louisiana Street, Morgan City; warrant, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; $50,000 bond.

—Tara Fraijo, 41, Kentucky Street, Morgan City; warrant, four counts of distribution of crack cocaine; $400,000 bond.

—Jeaneaux Kenner, 20, Mallard Street in Morgan City; warrant, distribution of marijuana; $100,000 bond.

—Karen Robertson, 51, Solar Apartments, Morgan City; warrants, distribution of crack cocaine, conspiracy to commit attempted distribution, obstruction of justice; $150,000 bond.

—Kevin Clark, 29, Egle Street, Morgan City; warrants, three counts distribution of crack cocaine; $300,000 bond.

—Mark Cross Evans, 46, M Street, Patterson; warrant, third offense possession of drug paraphernalia; $25,000 bond.

—Larry Wilkerson, 62, Solar Apartments, Morgan City; warrant, conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine; $50,000 bond.

—Randy Lee Dixon, 32, Brashear Avenue, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

—Travis Lorenzo Ray, 20, Duke Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of marijuana; $100,000 bond.

—Paula Adams, 48, Third Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, schedule 2 (Fentanyl patch); $25,000 bond.

—Harlie Francis Jr., 23, Poncio Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

The remaining five suspects already were incarcerated at the time of the operation on unrelated charges. They were additionally charged and subsequently rebooked with the new charges.

Located in the Morgan City jail were:

—Jamon Bias, 31, Seventh Street, Morgan City; warrant, three counts of distribution of crack cocaine; $300,000 bond.

—Eric Robertson, 48, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

Located in the St. Mary Parish jail and additionally charged this morning were:

—Darryl Grogan, 48, Joseph Street, Morgan City; warrant, third offense possession of drug paraphernalia; no bond information.

—Kristie McNabb, 29, Solar Apartments, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

—Mark Webb, 28, Kentucky Street, Morgan City; warrant, distribution of crack cocaine; $100,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending.

Elsewhere, Arthur J. Cole, 53, of Beau Lane in Bayou Vista was arrested Wednesday at 11:01 a.m. for theft of utility services and simple criminal damage to property after a deputy conducting an investigation learned Cole had turned his water on, damaged a valve in the process. The meter was turned off for non-payment, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

Cole was arrest and issued a summons to appear in court before being released.

In Berwick, Chase Crappell, 17, of Burchfield Lane was arrested Wednesday at 4:38 p.m. on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, misuse of toxic vapors and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

A 16-year-old was arrested with Crappell on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia and misuse of toxic vapors.

Berwick Chief James Richard said his department received a complaint of two boys smoking narcotics in a pickup truck behind the Berwick Civic Center. An officer located the pair and subsequently placed them under arrest. Crappell remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court action.

Meanwhile, a Berwick man was arrested for drunken driving after he was involved in an accident Tuesday night.

Cheyenne Percle, 51, of Jones Street was charged at 7:29 p.m. with first offense DWI and reckless operation with an accident after the accident at Sixth and Pacific streets in Richard said.

Percle’s vehicle came over the blind hill in the road at the railroad tracks when it struck another vehicle head on, Richard said. There were no injuries. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Percle was under the influence, and he blew a 0.121 grams-percent on the intoxilyzer, Richard said.

Percle remained incarcerated with no bond set.
