Parish council to meet Wednesday

Members of the St. Mary Parish Council will consider adoption of ordinances designating the adjusted millage rates subsequent to property value reassessments for the purpose of maintaining and supporting the parish library system and the criminal justice system.

A public hearing on the proposed four millage ordinances along with two zoning ordinance amendments will be called at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 22.

U.S Congressman Charles Boustany also will address the council.

Other items on the agenda include:

—Introduction of an ordinance approving the refinancing of $4.2 million sewer sales tax bonds.

—A request by Councilman David Hanagriff, District 3, to consider repealing a resolution passed on July 25 that approved a Recreation District 5 bond election.

—A request by Councilman Charles Middleton, District 2, to transfer $2,000 in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10 three-quarter percent sales tax funds to the Town of Baldwin for its Pee Wee football league.

The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the parish courthouse in Franklin.
