St. Mary Parish Council members will consider a new mosquito contract when they meet in regular session Wednesday,

The council is meeting a week early due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

The administration is presenting a resolution allowing the execution of a new two-year contract with the current contractor, Mosquito Control Contractors Inc. of New Iberia, while Councilman Glen Hidalgo of Bayou Vista is asking that requests for proposals be issued.

Other items on the agenda include:

—Adoption of an ordinance on the designation of certain voting precincts. A public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be called at 5:45 p.m.

—Introduction of ordinances amending the current fiscal year budget; amending and setting the council clerk’s salary; and a specific use variance for the location of a communication tower at the Port of West St. Mary.

—A resolution on a cooperative endeavor and local services agreement on generators purchased with a grant with the St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness.

—Guest appearances by Darlene and Winnfield Theriot, residents of LaGrange-Robicheaux Road.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the courthouse in Franklin.
