An ordinance is set to be introduced by the parish council when it meets Wednesday that would allow a monthly per diem to the board members.
At the council’s last meeting, state Rep. Sam Jones said he was successful in passing legislation approving a $75 per diem for each meeting attended for members of each board with a limit of 15 meetings per year.
Also on the agenda are an ordinance and a resolution related to the issuance of $6.865 million in public improvement sales tax bonds. A public hearing will be called at 5:45 p.m. on the proposed ordinance.
Other items on the agenda include:
—A request by Councilman Kevin Voisin of Morgan City to allocate $2,000 to the Morgan City Power Boat Association.
—A request by the Youth Planning Board for its annual $5,000 allocation.
—A request by Councilman David Hanagriff of Centerville to transfer $12,000 from the Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10 three-tenths sales tax fund to Water and Sewer Commission 4 for the purchase of fire hydrants and engineering costs.
—An appearance by Marie E. Siracusa of the Morgan City Power Boat Association in regard to the Atchafalaya Eastern Divisional Power Boat Race to be held Oct. 8-9, on Lake Palourde.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Courthouse in Franklin and is open to the public.
