THE SEPTEMBER Patterson Garden Club meeting was held at the home of Iris and Buddy Roy. Hostesses were Daisy LeBlanc, Iris Roy and Evelyn Estay.
Patterson Garden Club held its first meeting of 2011-12 on Sept. 20 at the home of Iris and Buddy Roy.

The club’s new president, Sandra Marshall, conducted the meeting. A large number of members were in attendance, as well as new member, Dorothy Barrow. Everyone was excited about the new year and anxious to get reacquainted.

Hostesses for the meeting were Daisy LeBlanc, Iris Roy and Evelyn Estay, who treated members to a meal of sandwiches, pasta salad, fruit and dessert.

After Marshall called the meeting to order, roll call was taken and the new yearbooks were given to all members.

The first item of discussion was the Louisiana Garden Club Federation District 3 meeting to be held Oct. 4 in Morgan City.

Estay, Yard of the Month Committee chairperson, announced September winners were Sabrina and Ed Austin and the Patterson Area Civic Center.

Gretchen Lambert, Horticulture Committee chairperson, told the club about a book she thought fellow members might be interested in, “Gardening for a Lifetime,” by Sydney Eddison.

After the business portion of the meeting there was a plant exchange among members, and a half-and-half drawing was held. Ginger Griffin won the drawing.

Next month’s meeting will be held Oct. 18 at the Patterson Area Civic Center. Hostesses will be Peggy Rentrop and Griffin.
