Patterson Garden Club presents annual scholarship

The Patterson Garden Club held its May meeting and end-of-year social at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. President Sandra Marshall presided.

Linda Thomas was appointed club secretary and approved by the membership, filling the position held by the late Claire Sawyer.

The club honored Sawyer with a moment of silence, prayer and shared memories.

Evelyn Estay announced the five awards won by the club at the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Convention held recently.

Awards included the Garden Club Achievement, Yearbook Award Honorable Mention, Horticulture Honor Roll, Arbor Day Award, and Publicity Press Book Honorable Mention.

The club expressed thanks The Daily Review for help in publicizing the club’s activities.

Each member was encouraged to invite people to become new members for it upcoming year that will begin in September. Anyone that loves gardens, plants and friendship are invited to join. Most members do not physically do gardening. Contact a PGC member for more information.
