Richard Brinlee, 58, of Trina Street in Patterson was arrested at 4:48 p.m. at his home, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
The responding deputy was told the dog came out of the owner’s yard and bit the 12-year-old boy on the leg while he was riding his bike, Hebert said.
The boy was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City for treatment of two puncture wounds. Brinlee was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 16, 2013.
Also arrested by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies Monday were:
—Juvenile female, 15, at 12:19 p.m. at St. Mary Alternative School for battery of a police officer. A deputy at the school responded to a report of a female student attempting to fight with another student. While escorting the juvenile from the classroom, she struck the deputy. The juvenile was released to a guardian.
—Cody Thibodeaux, 22, Fourth Street, Berwick, at 3:02 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy at the jail responded to a fire alarm. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Thibodeaux, already an inmate at the jail, used a sheet to break the sprinkler in his cell triggering the alarm, the report stated. Thibodeaux remains jailed with no bail set.
—Juvenile male, 15, at 8:04 p.m. at the Bayou Vista Walmart for theft. A deputy learned from store security that the teenager was seen on video surveillance opening a package of headphones valued at $19.99. Store security retrieved the empty package from which the headphones were missing. The juvenile was released to a guardian.
—Jaime Boudreaux Lee, 34, Clausen Road South, Verdunville, at 9:48 p.m. on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista for obstruction of justice.
—Jasper Maurice Minor, 19, Sixth Street, Berwick, at 9:48 p.m. on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista for obstruction of justice.
—Anthony Charles Watts, 36, Clausen Road South, Verdunville at 9:48 p.m. on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista for obstruction of justice, failure to signal and child restraint required.
—Jerald Stansbury, 35, Clausen Road South, Verdunville at 9:48 p.m. on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista for resisting an officer by flight, failure to signal, driving under suspension, second offense possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice. Stansbury also is charged on a warrant for failure to appear for driving under suspension and license plate light required and on a warrant from Morgan City Police for simple battery.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Division agents patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn. When agents conducted a traffic stop, the driver, identified as Stansbury, fled on foot. Agents pursued Stansbury but lost sight of him. A bag of marijuana was located in the area where Stansbury fled, Hebert said.
Agents saw a vehicle continually driving around that same area, so a second traffic stop was made. The driver was identified as Anthony Watts. Three children were in the vehicle, none of which were properly restrained, the report stated.. Agents saw Stansbury attempting to hide on the floorboard under the legs of the minors in the vehicle, the sheriff said.
No bail has been set for any of those arrested in this investigation.
Morgan City Police Department Assistant Chief Glen Blanco said the following arrests were made over the weekend:
—Vincent Thomas, 19, of Fourth Street, Morgan City, at 4:02 a.m. Sunday, charged with resisting an officer, no driver’s license, driving without headlights, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thomas was the driver of a vehicle travelling east on La. 182 near Ditch Avenue. When officers stopped the vehicle, Thomas fled on foot, Blanco said. He was apprehended a short time later. Reports indicate a small suspected marijuana smoker’s pipe was found on the floorboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle, the report stated. Thomas was jailed with a bail of $1,681.
—Nicole Fisher, 41 of Federal Avenue, Morgan City at 12:15 p.m. Saturday charged with theft by shoplifting items valued at $53.61 at Dollar General. She remains jailed with a bail of $492.
—Craig Albarado, 48, of Diane Drive, Morgan City, at 9:50 p.m. Saturday charged on warrants for theft over $500 and theft under $500. Albarado was located on Pecos Street. He remains jailed with no bail set.
—Faibel Garcia, 33, of Aucoin Street, Morgan City, at 11:37 p.m. Saturday charged on warrants for two counts of no driver’s license, speeding and stop sign violation. Garcia was located on Aucoin Street and advised of the warrants for his arrest. He remains jailed with no bail set.
