Patterson Garden Club members and City of Patterson employees recently met to propose a united plan of action to capture the state’s 2012 Louisiana Garden Club Federation title.

Chairman Claire Sawyer said Patterson will be judged Wednesday.

Patterson will compete in Category F municipalities with a population from 5,000 to 10,000.

The city has been divided into districts to identify and remediate problems. We will use a system of accountability that has worked well in past contests.

PGC members suggest the following in order to improve the city’s score:

—Remove garbage cans from the streets.

—Do not use diesel as a weed killer on your property.

—Lawns should be mowed and free of litter.

—Post, fence and utility poles should be free of weeds, grass and leaves.

—Business establishments should be litter free and well kept.

—Grass growing in cement cracks on driveways and sidewalks should be removed.

The PGC and the City of Patterson wish to thank all who have helped to make Patterson our Cleanest City.
