ERATH — Patterson did what it needed to do to get in the playoffs with a dominating 35-7 victory against Erath Friday.

Denzel Johnson threw for 378 yards and five scores in the victory.

Johnson completed 25 of 36 passes with no interceptions in the impressive outing.

Wide receiver Daylon Charlot caught eight passes for 178 yards in the win. Two of the passes were for scores.

Senior tight end Deondre Skinner added five catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns, while freshman Mykel Jones had four catches for 71 yards, including a touchdown.

One of Patterson’s touchdowns — a 30-yard pass — came on a fourth-and-21 situation.

The Lumberjacks scored another touchdown, this one from 51 yards, on a third-and-12 situation.

The other touchdown passes covered 30, 18 and seven yards.

Jones also picked off an Erath pass.

No other statistics were available from Friday’s matchup.

Patterson, which enters the Class 3A playoffs as the No. 31 seed, will travel to face No. 2 seed Notre Dame in Crowley Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup

Erath made the playoffs right behind Patterson as the No. 32 seed. The Bobcats will travel to Baton Rouge to face top-ranked Parkview Baptist in other first-round action.
