An electrical pole was struck by lightning in front of 1673 Front St., the site of Cleveland Billiot Construction, which is located on the unprotected side of the seawall in Morgan City. This knocked out power to a portion of the city from 6:45 p.m. until around 8:15 p.m. Four electrical trucks and their crews were dispatched to attend to the problem, City Utility Director Bill Cefalu said. The pole broke in half 15 feet above the ground. Crews isolated the remaining part of line feeding a dead end and the circuit was energized by 8:15 pm., Cefalu said.
