Police report local arrests

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Christopher Martin, 26, of Third Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for entering contraband into a penal institution. Martin was being processed for other offenses and was booked on the additional charge. During a standard search procedure a deputy located a pack of cigarettes and a plastic bag containing pills. No bond has been set.

—Mark Russo, 43, of Easy Street, Patterson, was arrested after a traffic stop at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Released on a summons to appear in court.

—Timothy T. Humphrey Jr., 24, of Village Lane, Amelia, was arrested at his residence at 3:10 a.m. today for simple battery. Booked and incarcerated in the parish jail with no bond set.

—Kenneth Johnson Jr., 30, of Elsey Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday for first offense possession of marijuana. He was observed smoking a marijuana cigarette while walking on the street. Booked and incarcerated with no bond set.

The Berwick Police Department made one arrest yesterday, according to Chief James Richard:

—Christian Anthony Garrett, 25, of Vista Village, Morgan City, arrested Tuesday at 7:42 a.m. at the Sleep Inn Suites, for remaining after forbidden. Bond is $250.

The Patterson Police Department made the following arrests last night, according to Chief Patrick M. LaSalle:

—Don Curtis Williams, 35, of Morrison Street, Patterson, was arrested on Taft Street at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday for aggravated assault and disturbing the peace. Released upon payment of a $1,250 bond.

—Lashana Lynn Bennett, 31, of Plum Street, Patterson, was arrested on Taft Street at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery. Released upon payment of a $500 bond.

—Desmond Jerrod Richard, 30, of Park Street, Patterson, was arrested on Taft Street at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery. Released upon payment of a $500 bond.
