PORT BARRE – City employee Jimmie "Jennie" Castille, 60, has been charged with malfeasance and theft.

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “In February 2012, we received notification of discrepancies in an audit being conducted by their town auditor on the Port Barre Water /Utilities accounts.”

Mayor Gil Savoy requested an investigation into the accounts that were audited. Through the audit and investigation, investigators found that between $35,000 and $55,000 was allegedly missing from the utility accounts.

Additionally, it was discovered that multiple meter deposit/receipt books were missing, along with the work order registry log.
