These benefits include additional governmental funding, assistance for those who don’t have insurance and disaster food stamps.
Duval Arthur, parish emergency preparedness director, requests anyone who suffered home damage, even if they have private insurance, to call his office to report it.
While a single downed tree would not qualify, if a tree fell on a house, fence, awning or shed that should be reported, he said.
If any structure or part of a home had damage that should be reported, he said.
There 39 homes that have reported damage in the parish to date.
FEMA officials will be in St. Mary Parish Thursday to tour the area, Arthur said.
“We’re trying to protect the little fella who doesn’t have insurance,” he said.
Call 337-828-4100, extension 136 to report damage.
