Qualifying for candidates in the Oct. 22 election will be held Sept. 6-8 at the St. Mary Clerk of Court’s Office in Franklin.

Elections to be held and the associated fees to qualify inlcude:

—State senator District 21 $300 for non-party, $600 for Democrats and $525 for Republicans.

—State representative districts 50 and 51, $225 for non-party, $450 for Democrats and $393.75 for Republicans.

—St. Mary sheriff, clerk of court, assessor, coroner and parish president, $225 for non-party, $450 for Democrats and $393.75 for Republicans.

—St. Mary Parish council, $115 for non-party, $230 for Democrats and $201.25 for Republicans.

—Constable Ward 5 and justice of the peace Ward 4, $75 for non-party, $150 for Democrats and $131.25 for Republicans.

State statute requires fees to be paid in cash or with certified check, cashier’s check or money order, according to Clerk of Court Cliff Dressel. Personal checks are not accepted.

Qualifying times are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 6-7 and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 8.
