NEW IBERIA — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ralph F. Pichoff, 74, at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Jude Thierry will be the celebrant with Fr. Joseph Stemmann as concelebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Ralph was born April 30, 1937 to Edwin Sr. and Mae Landry Pichoff in Glencoe, and was raised in Franklin. He worked with the City of Franklin for over 30 years as an operator of both the Water and Power plants. He also worked as an oiler with the Lake Charles Dredging and Towing.

Outside of work, Ralph was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid sports fan. He loved playing bourre’ and doing word search puzzles. But his greatest love was his family. He leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He was a good Christian, an honest and generous man, and a hard worker.

Survivors include his wife, of 47 years, Mary Jane Fremin Pichoff of New Iberia; his children, Caroline Simoneaux and husband, Allen, of Franklin; and Ralph “Sonny” Pichoff Jr. and wife, Alison, of New Iberia; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Sandy Simoneaux and fiancée’, Patrick Davidson, Brett Pichoff and Emma Pichoff; and his brothers, Darrel Pichoff and wife, Shirley, of Arizona and Charles A. Pichoff and wife, Connie, of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. and Mae Landry Pichoff.; and his brothers and sisters, Morris J. Pichoff, Linda P. Simoneaux, Carol Jane Pichoff, Ida Pichoff and Edwin W. Pichoff Jr.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Peltier Jr., Edwin Pichoff, Rick Simoneaux, Donnie Simon, Carl Romero and Dreau Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Darrel Pichoff, Donald Simon, Donald Fremin, Raymond Labit, Gerard Peltier and Nathan Fremin.

In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to Heart of Hospice or to the Rehab Unit of Consolata Nursing Home.
