BERWICK, La. — Phase five of Renwick Subdivision should be about 95 percent complete by mid-December and it was transferred to the Berwick Development District by ordinance Tuesday in preparation for the sale of 33 new lots upon completion.

Reid Miller of Miller Engineers and Associates said LA Contracting Enterprise should finish the concrete for the roads around the first week of December. Sidewalks, drainage and lot shaping are anticipated by the end of December.

The town council also authorized partial payments to LA Contracting and Miller Engineers for completed work in the amounts of $138,565 and $6,928, respectively.

In other action Tuesday, the council also:

—Rezoned property on Pacific Street from B-2 (business) to R-3 (residential) in keeping with the current use of the surrounding land. A public hearing on the matter brought no comment.

—Recognized teachers of the year at Berwick schools — Jean Cantrell, Berwick Elementary; Mario Stephens, Berwick Junior High; and Lloyd Burchfield, Berwick High School.

—Declared multiple items of surplus property. They will be sold at a later date.
