Ricohoc man accused of firing gun

A Ricohoc man pulled a handgun and fired at two individuals at daybreak on Saturday, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Homer Rickey Romero, 59, of Hunting Road, Ricohoc, was arrested at 6:51 a.m. Saturday (about a half-hour after the alleged incident) at his home for two counts of aggravated assault and illegal use of a weapon. A deputy responded to a complaint of a gunshot. The two victims told the deputy that Romero threatened them with a handgun and as they drove away Romero fired the weapon, the report stated. He remains jailed with bail not yet set.

Also arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office over the weekend were:

—Travis James Morin, 29, of Darlene Street, Patterson, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Saturday on Joey Street in Patterson on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. He was released on a summons to appear in court in December.

—Chase Joseph Crappell, 18, of Burchfield Lane, Berwick, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Thursday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on a warrant for aggravated battery. An alleged paint ball shooting occurred on Victoria Riverside Road. The male teenage victim was riding a bicycle when a passing vehicle stopped. The passenger, identified as Crappell, retrieved a paint ball gun from the trunk, chased the victim, and shot him multiple times, the report stated. The victim sustained bruises. Crappell remains jailed with bail not yet set.

The Patterson Police Department reported the following arrests over the weekend, according to Chief Patrick M. LaSalle:

—Gregory Kemp, 17, of Shaw Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Friday on 9th Street for possession of marijuana, possession of schedule II narcotics, resisting an officer and failure to comply. He remains jailed with bail not yet set.

—Wanya Malik Francis, 17, of Live Oak Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Friday on 9th Street for possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule II narcotic, resisting an officer and failure to comply. She remains jailed with bail not yet set.

—Austin Ray, 17, of Como Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Friday on Hickory Street for resisting an officer by flight, possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule II narcotic. He remains jailed with bail not yet set.

—Ripton Lindsay, 65, of Live Oak Street, Patterson, was arrested at his residence at 11:43 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace loud music and resisting an officer by force. He was released on a cash bond of $481.

The Berwick Police Department reported that it made no arrests over the weekend, according to Chief James Richard.
