Ronnie Joseph Morgan Sr., 63, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his residence.
Ronnie, a dedicated and hard worker, was employed with Lafayette Electrical for four years. While employed there, Ronnie also worked with the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office as an investigator for more than 15 years. Ronnie previously worked with Teche Regional Medical Center, where he handled the security portion of that facility, a place he loyally served for more than 16 years. He had an immense love for his vehicles, which he was known for keeping in immaculate condition. He also held a deep fondness for his beloved dog, Gizmo. Ronnie never met a person that didn’t instantly like him. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Ronnie will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jacalyn “Jackie” Douglass Morgan; five children, Ronnie Morgan Jr., Sammy Morgan, Melissa Hidalgo and her husband, Robert, Jenna Gros and Claire LaCoste; nine grandchildren, Myles, Brittany, Sammy II, Jayson, Devin, Taylor, Emilee, Riley and Braelyn; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, James “Jimmy” Morgan and his wife, Joann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Morgan; his mother, Theresa Tourera Morgan; and an infant son.
Visitation for Ronnie will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, from 8 a.m. until time of dismissal at 9:30 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Graveside services will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
