Burdett wished to assure parents that after an investigation the rumor turned out to be just that, hearsay that found its way to social media outlets.
Police were contacted, interviews were conducted and Burdett said it was learned that during a discussion in a P.E. class Wednesday some students were discussing the recent shooting in Texas.
One of the students reportedly asked "what would happen if we brought a gun to school" which was later posted to Facebook, causing concern among students and parents.
Burdett said school will be in session tomorrow and students are expected to attend as normal.
