Sharon Elizabeth Boozer Bruno, 63, of Forney, Texas passed away on February 16, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on April 17, 1948 in Harlingen, Texas to the late William Gordon Boozer and the late Rita Mae Seward Boozer. She was the middle of three children. They moved several times in her youth until settling in Franklin before her second grade year. She graduated as Salutatorian from St. John Catholic High School in 1966 and attended Louisiana State University. On February 15, 1969 she married Russell Tillman Bruno. She went on to complete a BA in Education from USL.
Sharon dedicated her life to caring for her husband of 43 years, raising her four children, teaching elementary and middle school children and sharing her Catholic faith with those around her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and baking cookies with her 13 grandkids. Sharon inspired others to grow in their faith through her optimistic and loving nature.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Tillman Bruno of Forney, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sonia Bruno of Waco, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sue Bruno of Richland, Washington; son-in-law and daughter, Greg and Kristin Atkinson of Midland, Texas; and son-in-law and daughter, Dan and Kyla Peter of Aurora, Illinois. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley, Niki and Joey Bruno of Waco, Texas; Isaac, Max and Emma Bruno of Richland, Washington; Katherine and McKenzie Stovall, Nathan, Lainee and Claire Atkinson of Midland, Texas; and Addison and Alexandra Peter of Aurora, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Kay Boozer of Benoit, Mississippi; sister, Brenda Henson of New Iberia and many nephews, nieces and friends that loved her dearly.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rita Boozer; her brother, Stephen Boozer; and her brother-in-law, Gary Henson.
Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 19, at 5 p.m., at Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas, with a rosary following at 6 p.m. The funeral mass was held Monday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Forney, Texas.
Following interment at College Mound Cemetery, a reception was held at the St. Martin Parish Hall.
