BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana School Board Association has fired its executive director as a probe of the alleged cover up of theft by another employee continues.

Nolton Senegal, Sr., executive director since July 2007 and a former member of the Acadia Parish School Board, was terminated by a board vote Friday, according to President Darrin Manuel, president of the Beauregard Parish School Board.

An employee, Doris Butler, is suspected of stealing from accounts, a misuse that Senegal was allegedly award of but did not report to his employers or to police.

LSBA spokesman Don Whittinghill said the amount involved is “substantial.”

Lloyd Dressel, director of business and finance for the organization, has been named interim executive director.
