No trial date has been set for two St. Landry Parish School Board members who pleaded innocent in federal court Thursday to bribery and conspiracy to commit bribery.

John Miller and Quincy Richard were released with no bond required after their arraignment. Miller is represented by Harold Register; Richard by his son, Quincy, Jr.

The speedy trial requirement was waived by Magistrate Michael Hill. Discovery between the two sides is to be completed by Feb. 20.

That is the phrase in which the prosecution and defense explore the depth and breadth of evidence held by both sides.

Richard and Miller are charged with allegedly soliciting $5,000 bribes from Interim Supt. Joseph Cassimere for their vote in the superintedent election.

That election has been postponed pending the outcome of the bribery case.
