The total includes $341,125 from maintenance funds and $1,895,000 in capital funds.
Some $5,000 from each school is allocated for painting as well as $5,000 for security camera upgrades.
Major expenditures on the list prepared by Maintenance Supervisor Brad Wiese include:
—M.D. Shannon Elementary: the addition of solar screens on annex windows, $7,000; and replacement of stalls in the girls’ restroom of the main building, $9,000.
—M.E. Norman Elementary: fire alarm panel replacement and system conversion, $11,000.
—Morgan City Junior High: creation of an office space inside the band room, $10,000 (added by the committee); and new subfloor and flooring in football locker room, $7,500.
—Wyandotte Elementary: new floors in two classrooms, $6,000.
—Morgan City High: as needed upstairs floor replacement, $8,000; field house renovations, $50,000 in reserve.
Other items added to Wiese’s recommendations include the location of a storage shed estimated at $4,500 and additional classroom electrical outlets at $5,000 at J.B. Maitland Elementary; and skylight replacement in the girls’ gym at Morgan City Junior High, $1,000.
Capital fund expenditures include:
—J.S. Aucoin Elementary: replacement of HVAC system in the two-story wing, $475,000, bringing the total for the project to $875,000.
—Maitland: playground equipment upgrades, $20,000, bringing the total for the project to $40,000.
—Norman: construction of a new multi-purpose room, $100,000 (added by the committee), bringing the total set aside to $850,000.
—MCHS: HVAC replacement, $500,000, for total of $1 million in the fund ($400,000 added by the committee); construction of a library/media center and additional classroom, $725,000, bringing the total for the project to $1.5 million; parking lot repairs, $25,000; and baseball fence and dugout repairs, $20,000 (added by the committee).
