Serie was arrested in August 2010 after toxicology results found he had illegal drugs in his system at the time of a May car crash that killed his wife, Sheila Serie, and Shannon Cox of Lake Charles. Authorities say Cox was the driver of the vehicle Serie hit.
State police say the Serie's vehicle crossed the median and struck Cox's vehicle head-on on U.S. Highway 165.
Serie pleaded not guilty last November to two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of driving while intoxicated and one count of vehicular negligent injury.
