Sheriff Mark Hebert visited St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin recently to speak to eighth- and 11th-grade catechism students about the different aspects of the sheriff’s office. Det. Sennet Wiggins, Lt. Stephanie Duhon, and deputies gave presentations on SWAT operations and the dangers of texting while driving. Students had the opportunity to sit in a patrol unit and examine some of the gear used by the SMPSO Special Weapons and Tactics Team. Also, students watched a documentary about vehicle crash deaths caused by drivers who were texting. Above, a student peers through night vision goggles while a fellow classmate tries on SWAT gear in the background. Below with students and Sheriff Hebert is Elodia “Ms. Lo” Navy in SWAT gear.
