Short parish council meet brings holiday well-wishes

Holiday wishes were delivered during the St. Mary Parish Council’s final meeting of 2012 that wrapped up in under 10 minutes Wednesday.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the citizens of St. Mary Parish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and also to my colleagues a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your families from my family,” parish President Paul Naquin said.

“On behalf of the St. Mary staff and all of our workers, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy and prosperous New Year,” said Chief Administrative Officer Henry “Bo” LaGrange. He also thanked the council for their work during the past year. “I look forward to another good, prosperous year next year,” he said.

Year-end business handled by the council included:

—Adoption of ordinances rezoning property at 4415 La. 182, Patterson from general commercial to light industrial, and amending the 2012 budget.

—Resolutions on a $1,683 change order with LA Contracting LLC of Thibodaux on the Duhon Boulevard roadway and crossover project in Amelia; a contract renewal for 2 two years at a maximum price of $15,000 per year with Mosquito Surveillance & Control Consulting, LLC for program monitoring; and requests to state and federal delegations that beneficial use of dredge material become law and use of such be dedicated to the creation, restoration and protection of wetlands and coastal areas of the state.
