Four of the six are already employed with the Vermilion Parish School Board, while one is employed by the LaFourche School Board and the other one is from Georgia.
The School Board will interview all six on Saturday and next Thursday (March 22), the board will vote on who the new “superintendent-in training” will be.
Here is some background information on all six applicants.
• Dr. Charles Michel from LaFourche School Board. Dr. Michel is the special education curriculum for LaFourche Parish schools. Dr. Michel has been in the same position since 2007. Prior to that he was the assistant deputy superintendent of the recovery district in New Orleans for six months. He was also a principal at Clark High School in New Orleans for a year. From 1995 to 2005, he was an assistant principal and principal at three different middle schools near Houston, Texas.
• Jerome Puyau (pronounced P O) presently works for the school board as the coordinating supervisor of maintenance, a position he has been in for 5 1/2 years. Prior to that, he was an assistant principal at Abbeville High for three years. Before working at Abbeville High, he was a teacher at Erath High School.
• Francis Touchet is presently working for the school board and is the principal at Erath High School. He has been the principal at the school for seven years. Prior to that, he was an assistant principal at Erath High for three years and before that, the assistant principal at Abbeville High School for five years. He also taught at North Vermilion High and Kaplan High School.
• Brad Prudomme is presently working for the school board and is the supervisor of child welfare and attendance, a position he has held for four years. Prior to that he was the assistant principal at J.H. Williams Middle School. Before being an assistant principal, he taught at Erath Middle School for many years.
• Paul Hebert has been working for the school board as a principal at Kaplan Elementary for three years. Prior to that, he was the principal at Eaton Park Elementary for four years. Before getting promoted, he was the assistant principal at the school for three years. He taught at Kaplan High and Abbeville High for eight total years prior to being named the assistant principal.
• Michael W. Lehr, Jr. is t is the principal of Troup County Comprehensive High School in Lagrange, Georgia. The high school is ninth grade through 12th with an enrollment of 1,300 students.
