Recently on the riverfront, many different species of water birds have congregated on and around the railroad bridge. There have always been a small number that visit this area, but in November more than the usual amount began showing up. Almost two months have passed, and the birds are still in the area. Most of the ones than remain are different types of gulls and terns. One of the species that visited the area was a large flock of Louisiana brown pelicans. Above is a series of shots taken of a pelican as it was diving into the river in pursuit of the fish it spotted while flying.
