The Franklin City Council and Mayor recognized local sports achievements during their regular meeting Tuesday. At top, the 2011 Franklin Girls Babe Ruth All Stars Team, 12U, played in the Babe Ruth World Series in Andalusia, Ala., one of 12 teams from across the nation. They won three of five games and came out fourth due to a tie between second and third place winners. Below, Hakim Ruffin, second from right, is an 11-year-old from Franklin Junior High School who participated in the 2011 Track and Field Junior Olympics in New Orleans. He placed third in the nation in both the 100- and 200-meter runs.
