Parish Chief Administrative Officer Henry “Bo” LaGrange told the parish council Wednesday during its regular meeting that the district has asked for help until those funds come in.
The council unanimously approved floating the district a $750,000 loan for up to 60 days to tide it over.
In other discussions, LaGrange said that navigation restrictions on the Charenton Drainage and Navigation Canal were expected to be lifted today.
The council also passed the following resolutions:
—Agreement to back a lease-purchase agreement for the Atchafalaya Golf Course in the amount of $183,633 for new course maintenance equipment.
—Declaration of Oct. 2-8 as National 4-H Week.
—Cooperative endeavor agreements with the Department of Economic Development relative to site studies and Phase I environmental assessments of 109 acres at the Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport and 265 acres at the Clausen/Boudreaux Estate south of U.S. 90 at Calumet for preparation of the sites to receive state economic development certification as industrial sites.
—A request to the Department of Transportation and Development to install lighting on the elevated portion of U.S. 90 from Martin Luther King Boulevard in Morgan City east bound to the area where highway becomes level with the ground.
—A 30-day extension change order with C-Co Mechanical LLC and notice of substantial completion on the courthouse chiller replacement project.
—An agreement for debris removal services with Unified Recovery Group LLC of Baton Rouge.
—A memorandum of understanding with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness relative to Mississippi River flooding disaster grants.
—Authorization to execute a litigation agreement with the state relative to civil litigation concerning the BP oil spill.
—A request to state and the Federal Aviation Administration to upgrade the weather observation station Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport.
The council also introduced an ordinance on a right-of-way agreement with St, Mary Holdings LLC, and approved the annual budget and greens fee rates as presented during its last meeting by the Atchafalaya Golf Course Commission.
Also, Timothy F. McCann of Patterson was appointed to the Industrial Development Board.
Councilman Chuck Walters of Amelia and parish President Paul Naquin who was attending a state Police Jury Association meeting, were absent.
