According to Maj. Ginny Higgins, public information officer for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, thefts were reported by campers.
During the course of the investigation at the campground, deputies were able to recover a Yeti ice chests, one K-2 ice chest and a pair of SS golf cart rims.
Arrested and charged for the thefts were Matthew Latiolais, 17, St. Martinville, Dakota Robicheaux, 17, St. Martinville, and Logan Douet 17, Breaux Bridge, Higgins stated.
urther investigation revealed that Scotty Gaudin 18, St. Martinville, was also present during the incident at Wilderness Campground and was charged, she stated.
Investigators also discovered that the same suspects along with Bryce Vann, 17, St. Martinville, stole a golf cart from another local business, Higgins stated. Latiolais, Robicheaux and Douet, were charged and arrested in connection with the theft of the golf cart, Higgins stated. Investigators also arrested Bryce Vann for the theft and a warrant was issued for Scotty Gaudin, Higgins stated.
Upon completion of the investigation, Investigators were able to close nine cases in St. Martin Parish. All the property that was recovered as a result of this investigation has been returned to their rightful owners.
Higgins stated following four suspects were arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charges: Logan Douet, Breaux Bridge, two counts of theft over $1,500 and criminal damage to property over $1,500; Dakota Robicheaux, St. Martinville, two counts of theft over $1,500, criminal damage to property over $1,500; Matthew Latiolais, St. Martinville, two counts of theft over $1,500; Bryce Vann, St. Martinville, one count of theft over $1,500; and an arrest is pending for Scotty Gaudin, 18, St. Martinville, two counts of theft over $1,500.
