This initiative is for displaced seafood and oil industry workers, service industry workers, business owners, and other individuals who were affected by the 2010 BP Oil Spill.
There are numerous goals for the initiative, however the primary aim is to help families thrive, and promote healthy living in St. Mary and Vermilion parishes.
Some services provided will include intense case management, job readiness assessments, personal effectiveness skills training, financial literacy, retraining (certificate program in culinary arts), emergency assistance for basic housing needs for enrolled participants, and transportation for outreach services.
“This initiative is not income based, however; eligibility for individuals, families, and business owners will be determined upon provision of accurate accounts of how the 2010 BP Oil Spill affected their life or business,” said CAA Executive Director Almetra Franklin.
