St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert contacted ATC after receiving lab results evidencing the illegal activity that was uncovered through an investigation conducted by his office.
“Synthetic marijuana is a harmful controlled dangerous substance and can be any number of different herbal and chemical blends that mimic the effects of the psychoactive properties of THC, the active ingredient found in real marijuana,” stated Sheriff Hebert.
Commissioner Hebert stated, “ATC will work with local law enforcement agencies across the state to curtail the sale of synthetic marijuana by enforcing strong penalties to businesses licensed by his office found in violation.
“ATC is committed to protecting the public safety by ensuring that businesses permitted by our office are not using those permits to further harmful criminal operations,” he said.
The investigation also resulted in the arrest of an associate of the business.
