Hamilton, 18, of the 1700 block of Guyther Street is charged on a warrant for second degree murder.
The St.Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division began the investigation on Jan.21 after Chenevert's body was discovered in an apartment on Three B's Lane in Bayou Vista.
Chenevert death was the result of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Hamilton as a suspect, the report stated.
Hamilton was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail is set. The news release stated that no further details will be released.
