Teche Action Clinic will host a voter registration drive Tuesday as part of “National Voter Registration Day.”

The event is part of a national campaign to boost voter registration and civic engagement across America. Nonpartisan voter information and registration will be available to voters registering for the first time and voters updating their voter registration status. In 2008, 6 million Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register; however, the focus in 2012 is to make sure no one is left out.

This is the inaugural year for National Voter Registration Day and Teche Action Clinic will join volunteers, celebrities and organizations from all over the country to “hit the streets” to register and re-register voters. This single day of coordinated field, technology and media efforts will create awareness of voter registration opportunities allowing volunteers to reach tens of thousands of voters or more who could not be reached otherwise. The theme of this year’s National Voter Registration Day is “Register in September, make it count in November.”

Teche Action Clinic takes pride in promoting voter education and civic engagement by partnering with hundreds of non-profits throughout the nation Tuesday to make sure all voices are heard in November.

Voter registration will be offered all day at Teche Action Clinic located at 1115 Weber St., Franklin. For more information contact Alfreida Edwards at (985) 397-1096 or 828-2550 ext. 120.
