The vote means that school system administrators can include the cuts in projections for the 2012-13 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
The full board still has to approve the extension of cuts that include a freeze in annual step salary increases and the ending of certain professional and medical leaves.
The cuts implemented as part of the current budget year as the system faced rising costs and shrinking revenues.
The cuts would save about $2 million as the system looks at a $10 million deficit for 2012-12 fiscal year.
