BAYOU VISTA, La. -- A ceremony was held Thursday at Bayou Vista Elementary for the school’s “Teaching Garden” that the American Heart Association sponsored.

According to an AHA news release, “the program provides a real-life laboratory for students to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest crops and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits.”

Marita Voisin, physical education teacher, is the faculty sponsor for the garden.
