OPELOUSAS – A man is charged with the murder of two men last week and two others are charged with accessory to the crime.

Police said Friday that Robert Rideau, 32, is charged with the first-degree murder of Gary Richard and Desmond Lewis.

The pair were found dead inside a house on North Court Street after it was set ablaze. The house was burned to cover the killings, police said.

Robert Rideau, police said, was a former roommate of Richard.

Also charged are Charles Rideau, 24, aggravated arson and accessory to first degree murder, and BreyAnna Vidrine, accessory.

Police said they have recovered the gun allegedly used in the killings.
