Three teams rise in power rankings

Patterson, Berwick and Central Catholic all have risen in the latest unofficial power rankings released Tuesday by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

Patterson has jumped from 48th to 40th in Class 3A since the last rankings were released a week ago, while Berwick and Central Catholic have made smaller jumps. BHS has risen from 57th to 54th in Class 3A and Central Catholic, from 17th to 16th Class 1A.

Patterson (5-3) has a ranking of 9.65, while Berwick (1-6) has a ranking of 7.71. Central Catholic has a power ranking of 12.43.

The fourth local school, Morgan City, has continued to fall as the Tigers slipped from 37th to 44th in the latest polls. The Tigers (4-3) have a power ranking of 8.57.

The top 32 teams, according to power rankings, are selected for postseason play.

Neville (8-0) currently leads Class 4A with a 15.91 ranking, while Notre Dame (6-1) leads Class 3A with a 16.47 ranking.

Ouachita Christian is tops in Class 1A with a 16.16 ranking and an 8-0 mark.
