Gail Drinkwater shows off many of the items available at Saturday’s “White Elephant Sale” at Shadowlawn house and sponsored by the St. Mary Landmarks Society. The sale is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Shadowlawn at 906 Main St. Also this weekend are Tour du Teche III, the Franklin Art Walk, Techeland Arts Council’s A Gathering of Art Connoisseurs, Teche Theatre’s production of “The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane” and St. Mary Episcopal Church’s Blessing of the Animals on Sunday.
First up is St. Mary Landmarks Society’s White Elephant Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Shadowlawn house at 906 Main St. Organizers ask for no “early birds,” please.
Franklin’s Third Annual Art Walk will take place along Main Street from 3-6 p.m. Look for the gold fleur-de-lis with the purple accent. These will be placed at or near the art venues.
Some artists will have art for sale, and others will only display their creations.
There are 17 artists that will be featured this year. The following mediums are featured: handmade accessories, recycled art, drawing, mixed media, oil painting, photography, sculpture, photography, silk flower arrangements, acrylic, watercolor and fiber arts.
Art can be found at these venues: Chez Hope; the Lamp Post; Merle Norman; Floors, Etc.; Meyer’s Shoe Store; the Fad Newsstand; and Main St. Café. Art can be seen at these venues on Willow Street: Todd Art Gallery, Argus Spa and across Main Street, Scelfo’s Insurance and Company 55.
There are some returning artists and some new entries. Some artists will have pieces for sale, and others will just display their work. Each artist’s work is unique and demonstrates the creativity that is right here in our area.
Music by the trio of Alfred Hills, Ted Foulcard and Clarence Smith is set from 3-5 p.m.
Techeland Arts Council will host a Gathering of Art Connoisseurs at the Lamp Post on the corner of Jackson and Main streets from 3-6 p.m.
At this event, Techeland Arts Council will provide information about its production “No Hitchin’” and the organization.
Paddlers for Tour du Teche III will stop in Franklin sometime after noon and continue to arrive throughout the night and early Sunday morning. Music by Flashback will be from 5-9 p.m. behind the former Blevins Buildings.
The Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts will present its production of “The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane.” Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Fad Newsstand now or at the box office the night of the show.
This suspense thriller is set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6, 8, 12 and 13, and at 3 p.m. on Oct. 7. Because of the serious subject matter, this production is not recommended for children younger than 13.
On Sunday, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church holds its annual Blessing of the Animals event.
It will be at Trowbridge House, across from the church on First Street.
