Franklin Police are wishing Bayou Teche Bear Festival visitors and participants a great festival weekend.

Chief Sabria McGuire urged motorists to take care on Willow Street, which will remain open through the festival grounds along Teche Drive. Willow Street will only close for a short time Saturday between the St. Mary Parish Courthouse and Hazelwood Drive to allow the poker run motorcycle riders to pass through to Main Street.

Traffic on Adams Street from Main Street to Teche Drive is restricted to Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show participants only and will be barricaded.

McGuire said Jackson Street from Main Street to the bayou side will remain open until noon Saturday.

The westbound lane of Main Street will be closed Saturday for the motorcycle show and poker run, and also for security since the children’s area of the festival will extend close to Main Street. It will remain closed until the poker run is over.

The eastbound lane will remain open, and westbound traffic will be routed down Willow Street and around the festival area from there.

McGuire noted that though a left-hand turn at Main Street and Willow Street is normally prohibited, there will be signage at the appropriate times noting that drivers can make the left turn. This applies only to the period of time when signage giving permission to turn left is up.
