Traffic stop leads to discovery of 34 pounds of weed, arrest of three

BROUSSARD – State Police booked three persons, including a juvenile, after seizing 34 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop Wednesday.

Troopers stopped a pickup truck on U.S. 90 in early afternoon and found the weed and 387 grams of synthetic marijuana, a Troop I spokesman said.

Troopers placed the driver, 21-year-old Justin Keahey and his two passengers, 21-year-old Travis Lapeyrouse of Lake Charles and a 15-year-old juvenile, under arrest for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of synthetic marijuana.

Keahey and Lapeyrouse were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The juvenile was booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

The seized marijuana has a street value of over $40,000, and the synthetic marijuana has a street value of over $7,000.
