A Gibson resident was arrested on numerous drug charges following a traffic stop in Morgan City Monday.

Corie Wriborg, 22, was arrested at 11:41 p.m., charged with speeding, possession of schedule III narcotic (hydrocodone), and second offense possession of marijuana.

An officer working radar near Aycock Street and La. 182 clocked a vehicle traveling 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. He made a traffic stop and noted the smell of marijuana coming from the driver’s window, which was partially down, Morgan City Police Chief Marc Folse said.

The driver admitted to smoking a marijuana cigarette earlier in the night. Officers were given consent to search the vehicle. A small baggie of suspected marijuana and one pill of hydrocodone were located above the visor, Folse added.

Wriborg remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.
