OPELOUSAS – A 16-year-old freshman readmitted early by the St. Landry Parish School Board from expulsion was stabbed four times in the Opelousas High bathroom on Monday, his brass knuckles apparently not much help in his self-defense.

He was allegedly stabbed by two brothers in an apparent planned encounter stemming from a weekend altercation, police said.

The fight began shortly after the trio’s bus arrived at school.

Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow said Brandon Roberson, 17, allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen and leg.

Robertson has been charged with illegal carrying of a weapon on a school campus and aggravated second-degree battery, OPD spokesman Det. Darren Zachary said.

A second suspect, Roberson’s brother, Chrisopher Roberson, 18, has been charged with disturbing the peace by fighting.

The victim and five others were readmitted after expulsion for separate offenses involving drugs and/or weapons.

The victim, named withheld because he is a juvenile, had surgery on Monday and was in stable condition.
